Joseph Miller, MD

Family Medicine Specialist

Dr. Miller grew up in north Omaha until he was 16, then moved to Papillion and graduated from Papillion High School in 1973.

Education and Experience:

  • Graduated from Creighton University in 1977, Summa Cum Laude, with a Bachelor of Science.
  • Graduated from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 1981 and moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa for a three-year family practice residency, 1981-1984.
  • Joined the Plum Creek Medical Group in April 1984.

Areas of Medical Expertise:

Family practice in general, cardiology, geriatrics, obstetrics, behavioral medicine. Dr. Miller is especially interested in Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) and health care reform. He is the lead physician for PCMH at Plum Creek Medical Group in Lexington.

Family:

Dr. Miller lives in Lexington with his wife, Linda. They have three grown children: Tim (wife: Kristen), Matt (wife: Ashley) and Melinda.

Interest/Hobbies:

Interests include family, church and community service. From November 2009 – November 2013 he has traveled to Haiti 11 times for medical mission work and has coordinated the last nine trips. Dr. Miller travels to Haiti in two week periods twice a year.

Awards:

Dr. Miller won the Jim Kelly Memorial Award in 2009 in recognition for his enthusiasm, dedication and contribution to Lexington. In 2011, he received the COPIC Medical Foundation Harold E. Williamson Award for volunteering his medical services and other contributions to the Nebraska health care community.

Boards:

Dr. Miller currently serves on the Nebraska Academy of Family Physicians (NAFP) Board of Directors, as well as the Foundation Board of Directors. He is a member of the Board of Directors for OSAPO/Project Help in Haiti, which oversees the medical mission at Pierre Payen, Haiti. Dr. Miller is a member of the Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) subcommittee of the Nebraska Medical Association. He is also president of the board of SERPA-ACO (South East Rural Physicians Alliance-Accountable Care Organization).
